Govt portal helps 283,500 land jobs over last 4 years

PUTRAJAYA: JobsMalaysia, the Human Resources Ministry's portal, helped secure 283,455 jobs in the last four years and is expecting more applicants this year. The ministry's director-general of labour Datuk Sh Yahya Sh Mohamed said that last year, 110,239 Malaysians found work in various industries and sectors. Of the figure, 321 and 512 workers were from the hardcore poor and disabled communities, respectively.
The latest figure sees a continuing upward trend since the portal was set up in 2007, which he described as an "encouraging response" to the service. In 2009, 97,071 people secured jobs via the portal, while over 55,000 found work in 2008. In 2007 there were 20,817 successful applicants.
